COCHRANE, Ont. – Alex Little tallied twice, including notching the game-winner, to help lift the Powassan Voodoos to an eventual 5-1 decision over the Cochrane Crunch in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play Friday night at Tim Horton Events Centre.

The visiting Voodoos began the scoring 11 minutes into the match-up when Little notched his second marker of the season with help from Chase MacQueen-Spence and James Johnson as they finished off a nice odd-man rush into Cochrane territory.

It was more from Powassan early in the second stanza as they connected twice in rapid succession to go up 3-0.

Powassan’s Little added another right off the draw as he quickly drove down the left wing and surprised Crunch netminder Michael Nicholau by picking the low right hand corner seven seconds in.

Owen Fergusson then added to the visitors cushion off some crisp cycle work that saw him set-up alone in front, where he made a quick deke to his right and lifted in a back hand over the glove.

Clicking at 16:10, Cochrane got themselves on the board courtesy of Jake Alton’s first NOJHL goal when he spun and fired a low shot from the slot that slid past Voodoos’ netminder Owen Wray.

Converting early in the third, the road side got that back as Brett Richardson banged in his first from in close to make it 4-1.

Powassan then got another from Ryan O’Dell at 7:14 as his first league marker helped put it away after he whipped one in from the top of the right circle off a clean faceoff win.

The victory for the Voodoos’ Wray was his first in the NOJHL, as he made 20 saves on the night.

Cochrane’s Nickolau meanwhile saw 39 shots fired his way in defeat.
