TIMMINS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock were all business from the on-set as they struck five times in the first period and never looked back as they went on to defeat the Cochrane Crunch 8-2 Friday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest at McIntyre Arena.

Riley Brousseau began the offensive outburst near the five-minute mark of the initial frame as he ran a point streak to four by wheeling around in the Cochrane zone before putting one high past Crunch netminder Ben DeGiallonardo from the left circle.

Adding to that, Liam Wells clicked at 11:45 when he picked the top shelf from a sharp angle.

Not done there, Nicolas Pigeon and Chase Longhurst, with his initial NOJHL tally made it 4-0.

Pigeon potted his after getting a piece of a Bode Dunford attempt from the point while Longhurst was the recipient of a nice set-up courtesy of Nicholas Frederick and was left to score from just on top of the crease.

Dunford then tacked on a fifth marker late in the session as he blasted a one-timer from the right side at 18:27.

The power play helped the Rock add another in the middle stanza, with Henry Brock being fed by Pigeon from behind the net and connecting from close range.

Up a skater later in the second, Cameron Dutkiewicz added to the lead as he put in his fourth of the season.

In the third, Timmins added to their cushion on an Eric Barnard effort.

Picking up a lengthy power play, Cochrane clicked twice beginning with a short side effort by Liam Boswell and he beat Rock netminder Konrad Simard from a sharp angle to the right of the net.

Jake Alton then got the other at 12:21 as he snagged a rebound from in close before making a quick deke to his left and tucking one in for his eighth goal of the season in what proved to be the night’s final tally.

Dunford chipped in with three assists as part of a four-point night for the winning side.

The Rock’s Simard had 14 shots against to pick up his third victory in as many appearances so far this season while DeGiallonardo faced 44 attempts in the loss for the Crunch.
