TIMMINS, Ont. – The surging Timmins Rock won their sixth Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League game in succession Tuesday and capped off November by going 9-0-0-1 this month as they tamed the Cochrane Crunch 9-0 Tuesday at McIntyre Arena.
The Timmins power play went to work just over 12 minutes into the proceedings and began the night’s scoring as Brady Harroun took a cross-ice pass from Nicolas Pigeon and whipped a shot over the glove of Cochrane goalkeeper Marcus Ouellet for his NOJHL-leading 20th goal of the season.
That play also saw Pigeon and Harroun extend consecutive game point streaks to 12 and 11, respectively.
Adding another before the first intermission, the Rock’s Thomas Beard slammed in a one-timer from the top of the crease following some solid work behind the Crunch net by linemates Nicholas Frederick and Nolan Ring.
Up a skater once more, the home side went up by three halfway through the session as Pigeon set-up Harroun in similar fashion, who went top shelf, with a pin-point wrist shot from the right side to give him 21 on the campaign.
Extending their edge deep into the frame, Timmins came in on transition and had Liam Wells work his way free and bury a rebound from in close off a Kaeden McArthur chance from the from left circle.
Putting the game out of reach in the third, the Rock erupted for five goals, to win going away.
Lucas Lowe got his club’s fifth of the night as he came across the blueline and sent a rising shot off the end boards and saw it bounce right back to him, where he stuffed it in before the period was a minute old.
Tenzin Nyman’s initial NOJHL marker added to the cushion at 3:58 by roofing one while driving to the net.
Lowe then added another as he redirected a Kyle Trottier point attempt.
The offensive barrage continued with Kenyon Nyman collecting his ninth of the year with a snap shot from between the hash marks before Ring capped off the one-sided result by banking one in off the skate of a Cochrane defender.
With the result, Rock netminder Jacob Brown is now tied for the league-high in shutouts with four while his side raised their overall record to 20-5-2-2.
Ouellet suffered the defeat in nearly 48 minutes of work while back-up Jake Dubinsky went in for the final 12:19.
