TIMMINS, Ont. – Timmins Rock captain Tyler Schwindt tallied three times to help his club defeat the Cochrane Crunch 9-3 Tuesday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest at McIntyre Arena.

The hometown Rock opened the scoring past the five-minute mark of the proceedings when Nicolas Pigeon put a play through the crease that Harry Clark got a piece off before Schwindt slid it into the open corner for his 24th tally of the season.

Timmins then went up by a pair near the midway point of the first thanks to Bode Dunford snapping one in from the high slot.

Not done there, the Rock kept coming by striking three more times to take a 5-0 lead into the first intermission.

Clark made it 3-0 as he quickly pumped one in that was eventually deemed a goal after a discussion by all of the officials.

Then right off the draw, Pigeon completed a give-and-go by lifting a short back hand over the shoulder of Cochrane goaltender Michael Nickolau.

Completing the outburst was Schwindt at 17:24 as his second of the stanza resulted as he swiped the puck off a Crunch defender then made a couple of quick moves and deposited tally No. 25 of the campaign.

In the middle session, the visitors did get one back at 5:44 from Liam Boswell as he blasted one past Rock starter Konrad Simard off a rebound from an Ethan Ingram attempt.

However, Justin Charette, with a deflection in front, and Schwindt hitting his hat trick off a tip from the side of the net from a Carson Cox pass made it 7-1.

Battling, Cochrane scored twice late in the second to make in 7-3 heading into the intermission.

Collin Lapointe, on a man advantage, came out of the corner and picked the right hand corner while Ryan Matthews provided one via by putting a shot on next that clipped off a Timmins player and found its way in.

In the final frame, Chase Longhurst took a sharp no-look bank pass off the end boards from Henry Brock then in turn jammed one in on the short side for his second of the year, which came at 4:40.

Clark then capped off the one-sided result by wiring one from the right circle off another assist by Pigeon.

The three-goal night for Schwindt was his third of the season, which leads all NOJHL skaters.
