GALLERY: Rock get by Crunch for 6th straight win

COCHRANE, Ont. – Rolling right along, the Timmins Rock collected their sixth straight Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League victory Friday evening as they skated to a 4-1 decision over the Cochrane Crunch at Tim Horton Events Centre.

Timmins took the lead with 8:44 remaining in the first period when Felix Cadieux-Fredette fired one from the point then went through a maze in front and eluded Cochrane goalkeeper Jake Dubinsky.

Adding another on a late power play, the Rock’s Kaeden McArthur took a Fredette feed and dashed in on the left wing and whipped in his eighth of the season by burying one from the top of the circle.

In the middle frame, Timmins tacked on another when Liam Wells flew down the right side and sped past a defender before beating Dubinsky from the top of the crease at 13:11.

Cochrane did dash Patrick Boivin’s shutout bid with 2:44 remaining in regulation as Mathieu Roy cranked a one-timer near the side boards on the right wall during a man advantage opportunity.

The Crunch then got Dubinsky out late for an extra attacker, but Rock captain Nicolas Pigeon swiped the puck off a defender and while falling tucked it into the empty net to see him extend a consecutive game point streak to 13 straight outings with an unassisted effort.

In seeing their winning streak go to six in succession, the Rock also moved to 10-0-0-1 in their past 11 contests.
