Crunch ink 16 year old Nipigon prospect

The Crunch are excited to announce a big signing for our program.

The Crunch would like to welcome from Nipigon Ontario, Owen Perala. Owen left home this past winter and played in the GTHL for the Vaughn Kings Minor Midget AAA. He also played for team HNO at the OHL Cup where he finished 7th in points in the whole event with 3 goals 3 assists for 6pts in 7 games with the best 16 yr olds in the province.

Owen caught my eye while on our trip to Dryden for the Dudley Hewitt Cup at end of April. We stopped in Thunder Bay for a practice on our way and team HNO was practicing after us this young lads size and his shot caught my eye right away and after watching a few more minutes I was determined that he will play for the Crunch.

Here is the kicker. Owen is only 16 yrs old, first time a 16 yr old will play for our program here in Cochrane and the young lad is 6’4 215lbs and is highly skilled for player his size and age.

Owen has the skill Size and ability to play Major Junior or D1 in the future.

We are looking forward to working with Owen over the next year and help him get to the next level and we can not be happier to help.

We think with our program holding the Dudley Hewitt Cup this year and our team being much older can help with Owen’s maturity on and off the ice.

We had a chance to meet Owen and his father here in Cochrane last month and we knew he would be a great fit for our program.

Welcome to Crunch time Owen!
