Cochrane crunches Timmins 6-1

COCHRANE, Ont. – The Cochrane Crunch got a goal and two assists from Konnar Dechaine to help them defeat the Timmins Rock 6-1 in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest Tuesday evening at the Tim Horton Event Centre.

Cochrane got on the board first as Braeden Cross connected on a man advantage opportunity at 17:20 of the opening frame.

The Crunch added another before the frame was complete with Nate Viberg picking up his 23rd tally of the season with 29 seconds remaining.

Justin Hess made it 3-0 for the home side 13:48 into the middle stanza as he converted during a power play chance.

Jordan Rendle did get one back for Timmins a couple shifts later, but Dechaine countered that at 17:31 as Cochrane went up 4-1 after minutes.

The Crunch then put the game away in the third as Quinn Robelle and Brandon McReynolds both found the back of the net in the session to complete the night’s scoring.

Darian Harris and Bailey Shaver chipped in with two assists each to aid the winner’s cause.

Taylor Unruh made 37 saves to record the victory for Cochrane while Al Rogers faced 45 shots in defeat for the Rock.
