Cochrane up to 5th in CJHL rankings; Powassan, Timmins earn honourable mention

SUDBURY – Rolling right along and still unbeaten in the regulation time, the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Cochrane Crunch continue to climb in the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s Top 20 rankings.

The latest edition of the weekly listings announced Monday sees the Crunch slotted fifth nationally in the 132-team CJHL.

Meanwhile both the Powassan Voodoos and Timmins Rock earned honourable mention status.

Winners of six straight, Cochrane remains atop the overall NOJHL standings with 24 points along with an impressive 11-0-1-1 record.

Fellow East Division opponents in Powassan and Timmins sit with 9-3-1-0 and 9-3-0-0 records respectively.

There was no change among the top three in the CJHL this week.

The 10-0-0-0 Steinbach Pistons (MJHL) remains unbeaten and the No. 1 rated side in the CJHL again this week.

Following Steinbach is the also unbeaten 12-0-0-0 Terrebonne Cobras (QJHL) at No. 2, while the 12-0-0-0 Yarmouth Jr. ‘A’ Mariners (MHL) have also yet to taste defeat in 2016-17 and are still tabbed No. 3 in the country.
